How do I book?

Select the area in which you would like to cruise, the type of yacht preferred, the dates you would like to travel and contact us or a SARANTIS travel Agent, to check availability, hold an option or proceed with your reservation. If the yacht type requested is available for the period and location requested, we can proceed with the booking or hold an option for seven days. If you do not confirm the option within this time, the option will be automatically cancelled. Upon confirmation of the charter, a reference number will be given for future correspondence and the Charter Party Agreement (“CPA”) will be sent to you. This should be signed and returned, along with your down payment, as soon as possible.
Please note that a booking will not be fully confirmed until the CPA has been returned signed and the down payment is paid.
It is recommended that especially for charters during high season, inquiries for bookings should be made months in advance.

How and when should I pay?

To confirm your booking you must settle the down payment amounting to 50% of the total charter fee within ten days. The balance of the total charter fee should be paid four weeks prior to boat embarkation. All payments can be made either by bank transfer or credit card (Mastercard  or Visa). For bookings within 60 days of departure full payments must be sent with the CPA.
What qualifications do I need to charter a bareboat sailing/motor yacht?

To charter a sailing / motor  yacht in Greece it is necessary to have on board two crewmembers capable of sailing(skipper and co-skipper). The skipper’s seamanship and competence is proved with a sailing / motor  certificate issued or officially recognized by the Government Authority of foreign state, or by nautical/ sailing club or by sailing school of abroad. If such certificate, is not issued by a state, member of EU, it should be accompanied by a translation in Greek or English. An official statement/ declaration form stating their sailing competence may be also required in case the harbour authority considers necessary.

The co skipper should provide either the same certificates as the skipper or he/she can complete and sign an official self-declaration form stating his/her sailing competence.

Both skipper and co-skipper may also be required to submit a sailing resume that will enable us to assess their ability to sail / cruise  in safety. Again  Yachts reserves the right to insist that charterers hire a skipper despite their official certificates, if their sailing / cruising skills are not judged sufficient by our staff.

What about skippered charters?

If you need a skipper, WE can recommend a professional skipper for as many days as you wish. Even if you have experience in sailing, you may still require the services of a skipper to make your cruise more relaxing and benefit from the skippers’ local knowledge. There is a set daily fee of 130€ per day for the skipper regardless of the number of people on board. Please remember that the skipper needs to be provided with his own cabin, as he is obliged to sleep on board.
Which days of the week can I begin and end my charter?

Sailing yacht charters begin and end on Saturdays for multiples of seven days. In the low and medium season (B and C period, check our pricelist) and depending on yacht availability, this may be flexible. In any case (also period A/ high season) SARANTIS TRAVEL will try to accommodate your wishes for different days of the week and uneven periods of time, such as a ten or twelve-day charter.

What are the charters’ schedules?

All charters begin at 17:00 on the day of departure (normally Saturdays) and end at 18:00 on the day of arrival (normally Fridays) with an overnight till Saturday morning at 9:00.

SARANTIS TRAVEL requires Saturday mornings to ensure that yachts are always delivered to the next charter in perfect working order. If we can deliver your charter yacht earlier on the day of embarkation, without compromising our standards, we will, but this cannot be guaranteed.

What if I wish to embark and disembark from different bases?

This may be possible, but you will be charged an additional cost. The cost varies according to the distance between the two bases. Please check our pricelist.
Please note that motor yachts can be chartered either from Athens (Alimos Kalamaki Marina) to cruise only in the Argosaronic gulf or from Corfu (Gouvia Marina) to cruise in the Ionian Sea.

What does the charter fee include?

Yacht prices are per yacht, per week, OR/ per day depending on the time of year and regardless of the number of people onboard (subject of course to the maximum number of berths).
Charter fees include:
•All clean linen including bath towels,
•Yacht cleaning before and at the end of your charter.
•Port- Marina fees- for the first and last night of the charter in the marina of departure and return

What is not included in the charter fee?

• Security Deposit you choose to pay. (see below)
• Food and drink
• Yacht and outboard engine fuel.
• Port -Marina fees - This is a daily-base fee, which applies to almost all ports in Greece with varied costs.

What types of security deposits are available?
You may choose to pay either a Refundable Security Deposit or the Damage / Loss Waiver.

The Refundable Security Deposit is held against the yachts insurance excess. If there is no damage or loss to the yacht or to its equipment,  We  will refund the Security Deposit immediately at the end of the charter. However, if there is any damage and/or loss, the deposit or an appropriate proportion will be returned, if applicable, as soon as possible after full assessment of the cost of rectifying such damage or loss has been made.

The Refundable Security Deposit covers:
• Loss of or damage to the vessel, its tender and third parties.
• Loss of or damage to the equipment listed in the inventory and given to the charterer at check-in.
• Costs incurred if the vessel is returned in an unacceptably dirty condition.
• Cost of returning the boat to the pre-arranged harbor, if the charterer fails to do so by the scheduled date and time.
• Cost of refueling if the boat is returned without refilled tanks.

b. The Damage Loss Waiver. This is a fixed amount depending on the type and size of boat and the duration of the charter and is not refunded in any circumstances. With payment of the Damage Loss Waiver, the charterer is relieved of all liability for loss or damage to the yacht, with the following exceptions:
• Loss or damage caused by gross negligence by the charterer and/or his party.
•  Loss or damage caused to the boat or its equipment by the charterer or any member of his/her party while under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
• Cost of returning the boat to the pre-arranged harbour, if the charterer fails to do so by the scheduled date and time.
• Cost of refueling if the boat is returned without refilled tanks.

An additional refundable deposit of 380€ is payable when selecting the Damage Loss Waiver. This additional refundable deposit  covers the;
• cost of returning the boat to the pre-arranged harbor if the charterer fails to do so by the scheduled date and time.
• cost of refueling if the boat is returned without refilled tanks.

The payment of either the Refundable Security Deposit, or the Damage Loss Waiver, is designed to cover only one incident of a substantial nature at any one time.  In case of loss or damage to equipment of significant value such as outboard engine or dinghy, the charterer will have the right to an immediate replacement whilst on charter, provided that the charterer pays a new Refundable Security Deposit immediately upon receipt of the relevant replacement or in respect of the repair.

It is important to note that for both kinds of Security Deposits, the charterer will be held liable for the total amount of any loss or damage caused by gross negligence or wanton or willful misuse by the charterer or by any of his party which is in excess of the Security Deposit amount..

Gross negligence may include, but is not limited to:
• Sailing at night without all navigation lights functioning or without sufficient watch on deck.
• Damage resulting from non-observance of instructions given during the technical briefing.
• Damage resulting from failure to take protective measures (in accordance with good seamanship) against adverse weather conditions.
• Failure to have a competent person on the helm or supervising the helmsman while the boat is under way.
• Failure to take reasonable seamanlike precautions to avoid danger for both yacht and crew.

Please note that, for skippered charters, only theDamage Loss Waiver is accepted.

In any case SARANTIS TRAVEL reserves the right to accept or to refuse the Damage Loss Waiver.
Are the yachts insured?

Please therefore note the following:
